Psychiatry

The Year 6 Psychiatry specialization trains medical students in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders across a diverse patient population. This rotation emphasizes the development of strong communication and observation skills, critical thinking, and empathy.

Students learn to manage both acute psychiatric crises and long-term mental health conditions through a combination of pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic approaches, while addressing the social and cultural factors that influence mental well-being.
